Basic questions to confirm
The central subsidy is presented here for residential households. Before relying on any estimate, confirm the electricity connection, property permission, proposed system and application path meet current requirements.
- Is the electricity connection residential?
- Does the applicant control or have permission to use the roof?
- Is sufficient shadow-free roof area available?
- Will the application follow the current portal and DISCOM process?
- Will the vendor and equipment meet the current requirements?
Documents and details to prepare
Requirements can change and vary by application stage. Commonly useful information includes a recent electricity bill, consumer number, identity and bank details, roof/property information and the technical proposal.
- Keep names and consumer details consistent
- Use an active bank account in the required name
- Save application, feasibility and commissioning records
- Confirm how subsidy release is tracked
Reasons an estimate is not an approval
This calculator cannot query government or DISCOM systems. It does not validate connection category, previous subsidy, sanctioned load, vendor empanelment, technical feasibility, inspection or bank details. Only the official process can confirm eligibility.
Frequently asked questions
Clear answers, with the important caveats left in.
Are tenants eligible for PM Surya Ghar?
Tenancy and roof permission require case-specific confirmation. Check current official requirements and obtain the necessary property-owner consent before making commitments.
Can a commercial connection receive the residential subsidy?
Do not assume so. The central estimate used here applies only to residential mode; commercial mode receives a warning and zero subsidy.
Should I verify eligibility with my DISCOM?
Yes. Your DISCOM is central to technical feasibility, connection and commissioning steps. Use the official portal and DISCOM guidance for the current process.
How accurate is this calculator?
It is a planning estimate based on the values you enter, a state-level solar-yield assumption and the published central subsidy slabs. Shade, roof direction, equipment performance, local tariff design and approval rules can materially change the real outcome.
Is this website official?
No. This is an independent calculator and is not affiliated with the Government of India, MNRE, PM Surya Ghar or any DISCOM. Verify eligibility and subsidy amounts on the official portal and with your DISCOM.
